Resources for alternatives to EasyBib, which will be retired as of July, 2017.

EasyBib FAQ

Effective July, 2017, EasyBib will be no longer be available through SCF Library databases.

To help you prepare for this change, please review the following information.

  • What does this mean? EasyBib citation tools will continue to be free, but EasyBib School Edition and Academic Edition will no longer be available after July, 2017.
  • Why is this happening? In 2016, EasyBib became a part of the education company Chegg, Inc. They have decided to retire their institutional services to focus efforts on other products.
  • What will happen to my students’ EasyBib accounts, as well as my own? SCF’s subscription to this product will end. This means that current accounts established through the SCF subscription will simply be downgraded to free accounts. You may still use your same login and password to access projects and bibliographies, which will remain available to you. If you or your students want access to premium features (multiple citation styles, etc.) you must sign up for a personal subscription to EasyBib Pro.
  • What do I need to do? Anyone who uses an EasyBib account established through SCF can expect their accounts to be downgraded to free status. However, all saved projects and citations will still be available. Also, anyone who uses the 'notebook’ feature in EasyBib will need to download any notes and save them offline because this feature will be closed July 15, 2017.
  • Now that our subscription version of EasyBib has ended, there is a code that will allow access to the complete professional version of EasyBib until July of 2018. This was provided by the vendor as a courtesy during our transition away from their product. The access code is: StateFL160.
  • What products will the SCF Library make available to replace EasyBib? Rest assured that SCF Library will continue to make resources available to support students and faculty with their citation and bibliographic management needs. At this time, we are considering various options for the next academic year. You can expect to be notified about these changes sometime after July 1, 2017.
  • Who do I contact for more information or help? If you have questions about the availability of EasyBib through SCF, please contact any of the SCF Librarians on your campus.
