What is RefWorks?

"RefWorks -- an online research management, writing and collaboration tool -- is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies." From RefWorks.

What does that really mean?

RefWorks can keep a running bibliography of works read and considered for a project.

RefWorks can compile MLA list of works cited and APA list of references. Make sure to select the most current version of a citation style.

RefWorks has a Write & Cite feature that can be integrated into a Word program.

RefWorks citations are NOT accurate, but do gather key citation elements that can be easily checked against current citation styles.

Do not copy/paste from any citation generator - copy and correct!

How do I create an account?

Creating an account is as easy as choosing a username and password on the RefWorks website. In order to create your account, use a Campus computer to create a sign in.  Please save the confirmation email as it contains your Group Code. You will need your group code if signing in to use RefWorks from off campus.

It says I need a Group Code to login. How do I get it?

If you're logging in to RefWorks from off-campus you will be prompted to enter the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Group Code. To get SCF's Group Code, you can either go to the original confirmation email that RefWorks sent to you when you created your account, or you can click on the "Forgot Your Log-in?" link on the RefWorks login page to have the Group Code emailed to you again.  It will be in the email over your sign in information. Please save this for using RefWorks off campus.

Sign in and begin using RefWorks.
