In 2009, the librarians at SCF realized they needed to have a more consistent approach if the students were going to acquire the college's general education competency of information literacy. If the college was guaranteeing that students would graduate with this competency, the librarians wanted to be sure their instruction and the student learning outcomes aligned. Therefore, after much research mapping information literacy outcomes from degree programs to individual courses, they were prepared to develop a plan. The attached information literacy plan identifies learning outcomes; liaison responsibilities for each librarian, and assessment of learning outcomes. This plan is always evolving, so the plan attached is snapshot of where the librarians were in August of 2014.
