ENC 1101: Written Communication - Thompson

Resource Guide for ENC 1101 - Thompson

Welcome

Welcome to the ENC 1101 Research Guide for Professor Karen Thompson!

This guide will help you find the resources you need to succeed with your Written Communication assignments.

I'm Judy Meirose, the library liaison for this class. You can reach me using the contact details in the Reference and Instruction Librarian box, or feel free to connect with another SCF librarian through our Ask-A-Librarian service.

Starting the Research Process

  1. Use the Research Companion database to help you find, evaluate and cite information
  2. Start by choosing your keywords. To help you create an effective search strategy, watch the "What’s a Search Strategy?" video in the Getting Started Videos section
  3.  Enter your chosen keywords into the Quick Search box or one of the databases listed in the Searching Databases section
  4. Evaluate your search results using the guidance in the Evaluating Resources section—ask yourself if the sources are relevant and come from scholarly or credible publications
  5. Use the resources in the Citing Sources section to ensure you properly cite any information taken from your sources
