Welcome to the SLS 1101 library guide! This guide will cover the types of help you can find at the library, the different resources you may encounter in our catalog, and how to avoid plagiarism by citing your sources. Use the tabs to navigate to the appropriate page.
Help can be found in many places on the library website:
About Us Tab: use this tab at the top of the page to view hours and locations of SCF Libraries, email a librarian, or find out more information about our technology and policies.
Ask A Librarian: The Ask Us button at the top of the page and the Ask a Librarian chat box on the right side of the page connects you directly with a librarian. You have the option to text, email, or chat with a librarian. During the week this service is staffed by librarians across our 3 campuses; on the weekends you may be chatting with a librarian from outside SCF.
Tutorials: The tutorials tab contains video demonstrations on a variety of topics, including using the library catalog, using library databases, and more.
Research Guides: Library guides, or LibGuides, can be found under the Guides tab. These can help you research a specific topic, a specific course, or a specific resource. The default page is arranged by subject, but you can also browse all guides or search for guides containing a specific keyword.
The easiest way to access the library catalog is to use the Quick Search button on the library's home page. When you are doing research, you may want to search using keywords or subjects; unlike Google, you cannot type a full sentence into the search bar and expect accurate results.
