Information & Updates about the Design and Construction of the New Library at the Bradenton Campus

Students Dream Library

Input from students, faculty & community

During 2014 and 2015, the SCF Libraries used different methods to gather our Library users' input on what they wanted or expected in the new building. Surveys, suggestion cards, ideas wall, and library events provided us with our students' needs and desires for the new building.

Ideas Wall

SCF Students Draw Their Dream Library

SCF Librarians conducted an ethnographic study involving students at the Bradenton campus to get some of their ideas about how they would  use a new library.  33 students (after signing informed consent forms) took time out of their day to help us vision for the new library at the Bradenton Campus.  We asked them to "DREAM BIG" and many of them did.

Here is the drawing prompt they were given:

IMAGINE: The college is building a new library, a little bigger than the current library, and they ask YOU to design it.  You can put up walls, or not have walls.  You can buy furniture, hire staff, and have the amenities and comforts you want. It will be YOUR college library.

So you design the space and it is built over night.  It is exactly the way you wanted it to be and you love it and you want to go there a lot.

Show us what it looks like.
