How To Avoid Plagiarism:

Cite your work, including direct quotes, paraphrasing, and summarizing a work.

Why do you need to cite?

To Give credit where credit is due.

It is very important to give credit to the originator of the material.  Not only their words but their ideas as well, including images, graphs, maps, etc.

 

 

Common Examples of Plagiarism

 

Common Examples of Plagiarism:

1:  Copy/Paste:  When you copy and paste a quote or paragraph into your work without proper citation

2:  Paraphrase:  When you take a paragraph you have read and put it into your own words without proper citation

3:  Summarizing a book, article, image without proper citation.

4:  Direct quotes:  When you insert a direct quote into your work without proper citation.
