Guidelines for CHM 2045L Presentations -- Prof. Wright

Presentation:

1. Presentations are an individual assignment

2. PowerPoint or Adobe format suggested

3. Select a topic from the list provided. If you are interested in a topic not listed, please let me know so we can discuss it

4. A time slot of 10 minutes is set for each presentations

5. Presentations should be a minimum of 6 and max of 8 minutes with 2 minutes for Q&A

Slides:

1. one Title slide, which should include the name of presenter

2. one outline slide to show the items of the talk

3. one introductory/historical slide

4. a few (8-10) slides describing the topic make sure that the chemistry involved is included---Note: at this stage, you are expected to show some understanding of the chemistry

5. slide(s) describing applications/future

6. a Summary and Conclusions slide

7. slide for references and any acknowledgements (this applies if you use sources other than published material)

8. Do not read directly off of slides more than once during the presentation

Videos:

Videos and/or animations are allowed under the following guidelines

1. Video/Animation should be 1 to 2 minutes in length MAX

2. The video/animation should complement your presentation, not do the topic explanation for you.

3. With or without video, the presentation should not be longer than 8 minutes.

References:

1. You need to draw your information from at least 3 references

· References should be peer-reviewed journals, books or textbooks

· Leading reference should be within the last 5 years

· Wikipedia should not be a primary source

2. You can draw from historical references to explain where the topic started
