Low-technology Maker Room

This room is intended for use when students or staff need to work on a project that requires crafting supplies, such as for making posters, art projects, crafts, mathematics manipulative activities, etc.

The room needs to be reserved and students and staff need to provide information about the project they are working on. After the Library Staff approves the request, they will get access to the room and supplies by bringing ID to the front desk.

Room includes the following:

  • Large size guillotine cutter

  • Rolling Cart with craft supplies: duct tape rolls, glue and scissors, washi tape, craft sticks, chenille, pompons, glitter, origami paper, magnets, hot glue gun, etc.

  • Paper punch set 

Paper punch set including 58 different punch designs

  • Loom set 

Loom Set - Loopdedoo (brand name) Make bracelets, necklaces, belts and more.

  • Button maker & button making supplies

  • Spirograph

Low Tech Maker Policies and Procedures

The SCF Libraries’ Maker Commons constitute an invitation to create, learn, and explore, in order to further our students' educational goals. They may be used only for lawful purposes: see Maker Commons Terms & Conditions.

In addition to the Maker Commons Terms & Conditions, this equipment/room has the following Low-Tech Space Terms & Conditions

  • SCF students & staff can request use of this room by submitting a request to the SCF Library Staff, either in person or online. The Library reserves the right to refuse any request.
  • Currently, the SCF Maker Commons low-tech space/equipment can be used by SCF Students or Staff for educational, college-related, or personal reasons, but please observe the following rules:
    • Leave the room clean and tidy
    • If we are getting low on any supplies, please notify a staff member so we can order more
    • Please vacate the room when your reservation time ends
    • The following equipment/materials must be checked out with an SCF ID at the circulation desk:
      • Spirograph
      • Paper Punch Set
      • Loom Set
      • Button Making Supplies (Limit of 10 buttons. If you need more, please speak with a librarian)
      • Lego Architecture and other buildable architecture sets

  • The SCF Library currently does not charge for use of this room.
