Use of spaces

Noise – Including Online Meetings & Cell Phone Use

The SCF Libraries reserve the right to monitor & dictate noise levels within Library spaces.

  • In the Bradenton and Venice Libraries, the second floor is considered a ‘quiet floor’ and guests are required to keep voices low, use headphones and keep noises to a minimum on those floors.

  • Patrons who disrupt with their voices and/or sound from equipment will be given two verbal warnings.  The SCF Libraries staff may ask patrons or groups to leave if the disruption continues to disturb other students working on their academic work.

  • Calls on cell phones should be taken outside the Library if patrons are in open areas and will be asked to leave for extended calls.

  • Online Classes & Meetings should be conducted within study room spaces so as not to disturb other patrons. Students talking in online meetings will be asked to relocate to a more suitable space.

Food & Drinks

The SCF Libraries permit food and drinks.

  • Patrons are required to clean up after themselves and report any spills as soon as possible.
